PDF & Image Tools

Compress PDF

Reduce PDF file size with a quality slider from 10% to 95%, or the Small (30%), Balanced (60%), and High Quality (80%) presets. Processes multiple files at once with per-file progress and a combined savings summary.

Merge PDF

Combine multiple PDF files into a single document. Reorder files by drag and drop before merging, then see the combined file count, page count, and final size.

Split PDF

Extract every page of a PDF as a separate file. Each page gets a thumbnail preview so you can identify it before downloading individually or all at once.

Compress Images

Reduce JPEG, PNG, and WebP file sizes with a quality slider from 10% to 100%, or the Light (50%), Balanced (85%), and Maximum (100%) presets.

Resize Images

Set exact pixel width and height in the crop panel, with an optional aspect-ratio lock so the image scales proportionally instead of stretching.

Convert Image Format

Switch between JPEG, PNG, and WebP, or keep the original format while only compressing, resizing, or cropping.

Crop Images

Drag a resizable crop box over the image, with a rule-of-thirds grid and 10 ratio presets — Free, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4, 16:9, 9:16, 3:2, 2:3, 21:9, and 5:4.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HexaMedia really free?
Yes, HexaMedia is 100% free with no hidden costs. There is no account required, no watermarks, and no file limits. All features are available to everyone.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. All file processing happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your files never leave your device — nothing is uploaded, stored, or transmitted to any server. This makes HexaMedia one of the most private PDF and image tools available.
What PDF operations are supported?
You can compress PDFs to reduce file size (with a quality slider from 10% to 95%, or the Small, Balanced and High Quality presets), merge multiple PDF files into a single document with drag-to-reorder, and split a PDF to extract individual pages.
What image formats does HexaMedia support?
HexaMedia supports JPEG, PNG, and WebP formats. You can compress images to reduce file size, resize to exact pixel dimensions, crop with preset ratios, and convert between any of these formats.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no hard file size limit since processing happens in your browser. However, very large files (over 100 MB) may be slower to process depending on your device's memory and processing power.
Does it work on mobile devices?
Yes, HexaMedia works on any modern browser including mobile devices. It can also be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA) for quick access from your home screen, and even works offline.
Does compressing a PDF affect text selection or search?
It depends on the file size. PDFs larger than 500 KB are compressed by rendering each page as an image and re-encoding it as JPEG, which shrinks the file significantly but turns the page — including any text — into a raster image. Smaller PDFs use a lighter method that removes unused objects and cleans up metadata, keeping the original text and vector content selectable.
What happens to transparent areas when converting to JPEG?
JPEG does not support transparency, so any transparent areas in a PNG or WebP source become solid black after conversion. To keep transparency, convert to PNG or WebP instead of JPEG.
What's the difference between merging and splitting a PDF?
Merging combines multiple separate PDF files into a single document, in the order you arrange them. Splitting does the opposite: it takes one PDF and extracts each of its pages as an individual, downloadable file. Use merge to consolidate documents and split to pull specific pages out of an existing one.
Is it safe to use HexaMedia for confidential documents?
Yes. Because all processing happens locally in your browser, your files are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored on any server — HexaMedia has no access to their contents at any point. The only network requests the page makes are for loading the tool itself (fonts, the pdf-lib and PDF.js libraries) and anonymized Matomo analytics, neither of which includes your file data.
Can I convert between JPEG, PNG, and WebP for free?
Yes, format conversion is free and unlimited. Choose JPEG, PNG, or WebP as the output format before processing, or leave it set to Original to keep the source format while only compressing, resizing, or cropping.
